Marco admitted that Red Bull should have won the Constructors` Championship. Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko answered questions about the key factor that determined the Austrians` failure in the team competition.
- 2024 is coming to an end. How would you sum up the last few months in Formula 1?
- The season turned out to be very difficult for us, especially taking into account the technical problems. At some point we didn`t know where we had taken a wrong turn, at times we only had the fourth fastest car. In this situation, Max [Verstappen] saved us by managing to get around the weak points of the car. The turning point was definitely an incredible performance in the rain in Brazil.
Despite the technical difficulties, we never allowed ourselves to make strategic mistakes, unlike McLaren in some situations.
- But in the end it was McLaren who celebrated the championship in the constructors` championship. How sad are you about the defeat?
- This is very sad and offensive. What weighed in the balance was that the difference between Max and Checo [Perez] in the championship prediction by fixed livescore was 282 points (actually 285 for Sports), and the gap from their rivals turned out to be much smaller. This explains why we lost the Constructors` Championship.
- This also probably explains the departure of Sergio Perez. . .
- There has been a certain decline in performances, although in general the balance over the years has been positive. In 2021, he contributed to Max`s first title, won a total of five Grand Prix, and was vice-champion. But now something has gone wrong when it comes to the car and its driving style.
